Our History

Pastor Inalegwu Omakwu (1958–2003)

Pastor Ina grew up in Kaduna, where he encountered Christ as a teenager and quickly stood out for his love for God, people, and his bold faith. After earning a Microbiology degree from Ahmadu Bello University, he answered God’s call to full-time ministry, traveling to the U.S. in 1984 for a Master's in Divinity at Oral Roberts University. There, he married Sarah, and together they built a family while he completed a second Master’s in Communication at Regent University.

In 1993, following God’s leading, Pastor Ina and Sarah returned to Nigeria and launched Family Worship Centre in Abuja with 147 adults and 64 children. His passion was to worship God, teach His Word with simplicity, and love people deeply. Together, they lived out humility, practical love, and excellence, creating a joyful community where many found God, discovered purpose, and served faithfully.

Pastor Ina championed missions, supporting widows, orphans, and missionaries across Northern Nigeria, and in 1997, led World Reach Nigeria with CBN, spreading the gospel to millions through radio, TV, and film. His legacy includes the church campus in Wuye, the Royal Family Academy, and the many lives he mentored to love Christ above all.

Pastor Ina went to be with the Lord on February 25, 2003.

Pastor Sarah Omakwu

Pastor Sarah Omakwu is the Senior Pastor of Family Worship Centre, Abuja, and President of Family Ministries International. She passionately models God’s Agape love through her compassion and generosity, believing the gospel should bring hope to the weak and vulnerable. This conviction drives the church’s support for widows, orphans, prisoners, and those displaced by conflict.

In April 2021, Pastor Sarah cast the vision to open 100 new branches of Family Worship Centre across Abuja and Nigeria’s state capitals. Through prayer, hard work, and faith, this vision was realized in just 11 months.

Her lively, insightful teachings inspire her 20,000-member congregation to pursue godliness, joy, and excellence. She advocates for strong families, godly relationships, and a society where leaders and citizens live with integrity. Pastor Sarah is also a sought-after conference speaker, ministering locally and internationally.
